Indie Post-Punk Pop Rock All-Female Band From New Jersey.

Thea Kearney and Nancy Cook found they had a shared interest in both music and visual art when they first met in Maplewood.

In the past few years they have exhibited visual work in local galleries like 1978 Gallery and Pierro Gallery. Nancy is a talented designer, textile, fiber and installation artist. In addition to Thea’s commercial art background as a graphic designer, she creates surreal paintings, drawings, and mixed media shadow boxes.

Originally performing in NYC with her own trio ( Thea K), Thea had more recently been playing guitar and singing with a local band, Dollar Store Riot, while Nancy was  curating music and art shows, pop ups, local events and DJ’ing.

In Fall of 2018, after attending a local version of a national music event called Porchfest they started talking about forming a band and soon began co-writing songs while also working on covers. They found a local drummer, CJ Jeiven ( Bambï) and started practicing in Nancy’s garage. In early 2020 bass player Kristy Ranieri ( Marco Ranieri Band, The Friggs) joined them.

The four were in the process of practicing for their debut performance in June 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Instead, they decided to release a E.P. of original songs mostly recorded from their homes.

Megasparkle’s 5 song E.P. Swirling Glitter was released on Sea Dragon Records on Valentine’s Day 2-14-2021.
